One product that can be used for multiple purposes? Sold!
There are specific products designed for every part of your face, from your hairline down to your neck. But there are few women who have time for that nonsense. With kids screaming, work waiting and life to be lived — you don’t want to be stuck in front of your makeup mirror applying highlighters, multiple shadows and various concealers. So, we grilled makeup experts about their favorite multitaskers. One product that can be used for multiple purposes? Sold.
Ulta Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30
Use it for: moisturizer, concealer and sunscreen
Details: This is an oil and paraben-free formula that is perfect for oily skin types, says Nick Stenson, an esthetician and makeup artist. “It lets your skin breath and still feel that summer breeze,” he says. $14
Merit Day Glow Highlighting Balm
Use it for: cheeks, eyes, nose and lips
Details: This is a sheer wash of no-shimmer glow that can be used on your cheeks, the inner corners of your eyes, on your lips and down the center of your nose to give your face a subtly dewy, bright and hydrated look, says Jenny Patinkin, a celebrity makeup artist. “I like that it doesn’t irritate my skin or cause milia the way that other oil-based highlighters can, and I especially love that there’s no sparkle in it that can sink into all those annoying nooks and crannies.” $30
Stila Complete Harmony Lip and Cheek Stick
Use it for: blush and lips
Details: This offers a buildable pigment with a natural finish that will have people thinking you’re naturally gorgeous, Stenson says. This is an easy-to-use stick that brings a healthy, exuberant flush to a flat complexion, and it perfectly pigments your pout, he says. $26
Use it for: eyes and lips
Details: We love Glossier’s products overall, but this one is a standout because for less than $30 it hydrates your eyes and lips. Since we like more of a natural makeup look, we often use this solo; it leaves our lips shiny (almost like using a light lip gloss), and our eyes seem to glow when this product is on. Essentially, it makes us look very refreshed. But you can also use it before makeup. $26
Veil Cosmetics Complexion Fix Concealer
Use it for: concealer, highlighter and corrector
Details: Created by celebrity makeup artist Sébastian Tardif, this is rumored to be Jennifer Aniston’s secret to her naturally beautiful-looking skin. Available in 15 shades, it is designed to be used as a concealer, as a corrector (for dark circles and sunspots) and as a highlighter (it’s shimmer-free and water-based). “My dark circles and redness are covered without a heavy look, and it’s small enough to carry around in my purse for quick touch-ups if I need it,” says Jacquie Desousa, a professional makeup artist in Toronto. $40
NARS The Multiple
Use it for: cheeks, lips, eyes and body
Details: You can use this as blush, lip tint, eye shadow and contour/sculpter for every part of your body. It comes in multiple shades, but we found that a single shade (it’s called “orgasm”) works for everything. How appropriate. $39
Use it for: cheeks and lips
Details: This can be used solo or you can blend it with other products. It looks great on your lips and on your cheeks (a little goes a long way, so this may last you for years). It’s easy to apply, and is blendable and buildable. $34
