Spring is in the air! The temperature is rising, days are getting longer, and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Soon, we’ll be able to ditch the layers, gloves and boots in favor of t-shirts, cardigans and open-toe shoes.
I am not a cold-weather fan, so I don’t need much to feel excited about the change of season approaching. But you know what could make this time of year even more wonderful?
How about some free (or almost free) goodies?
Yes, many retailers are ushering spring (and summer) in with freebies and discounts for their customers. So, mark these days on your calendar for even more reasons to love the warmer seasons:
Free Entrance Fee
April 19 is the first day of National Park Week, and all U.S. National Parks will waive their entrance fees. It is also free to visit the parks on June 14 for National Get Outdoors Day and on June 19 in honor of Juneteenth.
Free Cold Brew
April 20 is National Cold Brew Day. Last year, Dunkin’ Donuts rewards members received a free cold brew with any purchase made via the DD app.
Free Pretzel
April 26 is National Pretzel Day — when Auntie Anne’s Rewards members can go on their Auntie Anne’s app and order a free Original or Cinnamon Sugar pretzel.
Free Treats for Mom
Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 11, this year. While many restaurants offer brunch specials to celebrate moms, others have offered free items in the past. Last year, Insomnia Cookies offered free cookies and Friendly’s gave moms a free scoop of ice cream.
Free Slider
May 15 is National Sliders Day, a holiday started by White Castle in 2015 to celebrate its beloved mini slider burger. They have rewarded customers every year since. Last year, customers needed to use a special code online or present a coupon in person to receive their free slider (no additional purchase required).
Free Taco
During May, Taco Bell Rewards members can choose from a free Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito or a Soft Taco.
Free Burger
May 28 is National Hamburger Day. Last year, many burger chains, including Whataburger, Burger King, Wendy’s and Smashburger offered deals to mark the occasion, including free single-patty burgers, deep discounts or buy one, get one free (BOGO) deals.
Free Donut
The First Friday in June is National Donut Day (this year, it will be celebrated on June 6). Last year, many donut shops, including Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme and Duck Donuts, offered free-donut deals (although some of these deals did require customers to make an additional purchase).
One-Dollar Smoothie
June 21 is National Smoothie Day. Last year, Jamba sold their mango and strawberry smoothies for one dollar during specific afternoon hours.
Free Kids Meal
Another wonderful Wednesday deal is offered at participating Smashburger locations. Every Wednesday, kids 12 & under get a free kid’s meal with the purchase of an adult meal (entrée, side and drink). The deal is in-store only.
Free Fries
Every Friday is “FRY” day at McDonald’s, where customers can receive a free medium fry with any purchase of $1 or more (the purchase must be made on the McDonald’s mobile app).
Free Slurpee
Every year, on July 11, 7-Eleven offers all customers a free small Slurpee. July 11… 7/11… Get it?
Free Beverage
Remember that Starbucks Rewards members get a complimentary hand-crafted beverage, food item or ready-to-go bottled drink on their birthday all year round.
Free Flowers
At certain Trader Joe’s stores, customers can receive a bouquet of fresh flowers on special occasions such as their birthdays. While not an official giveaway offer, if you happen to be at TJs and are celebrating something happy (birthday, promotion) or mourning (a lost job, getting dumped), it doesn’t hurt to ask an employee if they will give you free spring flowers to brighten your day.
Meanwhile, here are some freebies you can get on your birthday.
