Four weeks after her first child was born, Danielle found out her mother had stage 4 lung cancer. Three months later, she passed away. Here’s why Danielle didn’t crumble.

Four weeks after her first child was born, Danielle found out that her mother had stage 4 lung cancer. Three months later, after a flurry of appointments and treatments, she passed away. But Danielle didn’t crumble.

She said she had to keep it together so that she could be present for her newborn son, who sparked excitement over new beginnings.

It's always hard when a parent dies, and Danielle advises everyone to take time to mourn, no matter what else is going on in your life. Caring for a newborn following the death of her mother really drove home how real the circle of life really is.
